N-Act Theatre Stage at Village Green
Sunday 10th March 2019

The N-Act Theatre Stage will see its first year at The Village Green this July. It is designed to replicate the Chalkwell Beach Theatre of the 50s, and aims to celebrate Southend theatre from 1950 to the 21st Century!

They will be hosting a variety of performances throughout the day with a particular focus for young people. They are looking for performances of no more than 20 minutes, which are either performed by young people or by adults with young people in mind. And by young people, they mean anyone from 5 to 18! More information from their website.

N-Act hope that the performances will encourage young people to visit the theatre more in the future, so if you can offer a free ticket to any future shows or workshops, which they can put into a draw, please let them know!

You can also find a link to the application form here. Deadline for applications is Friday March 29th 2019

They are also hosting an innovative exhibition to celebrate Southend theatre from 1950 to 2019! Do you have photos, posters, or programmes you wish to share with N-Act? Please note they don’t want original copies as they cannot be returned. Either send them a digital copy of your theatrical mementos or if you aren’t able to do this, they might be able to arrange for them to be photographed.
Or do you have memories of the theatre – however small – which you can share with them? Were you taken to the Chalkwell Beach Theatre as a child? Do you remember Punch and Judy on the seafront? Did you perform at one of our many Southend Theatres? N-Act will accept texts, emails or tweets – and they might even contact you to see if you would like to be interviewed for our oral histories exhibit!
You can email them direct at
